Gum Can Be The Star For Stemcell
How are gum stemcell obtained?
Gum stemcell is a type of oral mesenchymal stemcell. Generally speaking, oral stemcell comes from five sources: deciduous teeth, wisdom teeth, sublingual tissue, oral mucosa, periodontal ligament, and gingival tissue.
The optimal time to obtain deciduous teeth is before they fall out, when the dental pulp tissue is still present. Wisdom teeth and periodontal ligament tissue can be obtained through endodontic extraction or tooth extraction, but this procedure requires anesthesia. The sublingual and oral mucosal areas have a lower stemcell production rate. Besides requiring anesthesia, the wound recovery period is also more prone to pain. Gum tissue can be obtained without anesthesia, resulting in faster wound healing and the highest number of effective mesenchymal cells of all oral cell types.
